Modeling Inquiries

I am always looking for new models to book for my personal work and weekly figure drawing sessions I lead in Northern Virginia. Please read through the FAQs below and reach out if you’re interested!

What kind of models are you looking for?

You, probably! I try to book a diversity of physiques, ages, skin tones, ability, and genders. All bodies are interesting. The main requirement is that you are able to reliably hold poses up to thirty minute increments. Some poses will be shorter, but longer poses will be broken up into shorter sessions.

Models are generally posed on a large podium two to three feet off the ground. If you have mobility issues that would make climbing onto the podium difficult, let me know during booking. We can accommodate a variety of physical abilities if given the heads up.

Do I need to be nude?

I have more openings for nude models than clothed ones, but I do book some clothed sessions. Clothed sessions are generally long pose. Nearly all gesture sessions are nude.

This goes without saying, but: all minors may only be hired for clothed sessions after their parent/guardian signs a release.

Are you looking for zoom models?

Not at this time. Screens flatten the physical form while introducing distortion and reducing the quality of light. I am only currently booking models with their own transportation who are able to be physically present for sessions.

Will I be photographed during my session?

In group figure drawing session, digital mediums are not forbidden. Meaning: artists may bring tablets to work on, but this is generally rare. Phones are allowed in the room, but photography is not allowed during the session. I do allow artists who are interested in photographing a pose to ask the model if they would like to be photographed for an additional fee. It is up to the model what that fee is and how it is collected. You can always tell me to tell them a flat-out no if you are not interested in having that conversation.

In private sessions, particularly for poses that span sittings, photography may be necessary to record the pose and ensure lighting/clothes/positioning are consistent. Either way, you will know in advance whether photographs will be taken.

What should I bring?

If you’re modeling nude, bring a robe and easy-on/off footwear for the breaks between poses and the walk to/from the changing area. I do have towels to sit on for sanitary purposes, but you are always welcome to bring your own (solid-color, neutral-toned or gray towels are preferred). Pillows, stools, and other props will be provided. Some models bring additional props, exercise balls, or other items that facilitate poses. I am happy to answer any questions.

How does compensation work?

Models are paid an hourly fee based on experience. Payment is delivered in cash at the end of the session.
